Injuries to the lips, tongue, and gums are common during childhood and can sometimes look more alarming because tissues in the mouth can bleed quite a bit.
Many minor injuries heal well with time, but deeper cuts, persistent bleeding, embedded debris, or injuries associated with dental trauma may need additional evaluation.
At Little Roots, we can help determine whether the injury can be cared for at home or needs treatment. If bleeding cannot be controlled with firm pressure or the injury is severe, seek prompt medical care.
